Safearth exhibits at the 2022 CIGRE Sessions in Paris

Safearth recently exhibited at the 2022 CIGRE Sessions in Paris from August 28th – September 2nd. With representatives from 91 countries, 3700+ delegates, 8000+ exhibition visitors, 300+ exhibitors and 950 technical papers presented over five days it was a rewarding and educational event. Knowledge sharing was the key objective, and this was easily achievable with an incredible number of technical experts in attendance. Safearth representative, Lisa Hampton, was encouraged to see a very high level of interest in Safearth’s earthing system testing methods, training, and instruments, including from many potential international partners.

The event opened with a keynote presentation from Dr. Arshad Mansoor, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), regarding key imperatives for the electricity sector to achieve “Climate Ready Power Systems” in an equitable and just way.

Stephen Palmer from Safearth commented that he was pleased to be working in the international power system community again. Safearth representatives also enjoyed attending the international working group B3.54 on Earthing System Testing for a two-day meeting prior to the CIGRE Sessions. The working group is tasked to research and publish on ‘Earthing System Testing Methods – historic approaches, recent developments and recommended approaches’. The research work undertaken by the group includes the creation and execution of an international survey of the topic. If you can contribute to their survey, please visit earthingsurvey.com

CIGRE Working Groups and Outcomes:

At the heart of CIGRE’s programme is its community and 61 National Committees (NCs). These organisations nominate local professionals to participate across the knowledge programme, including in the 250+ Working Groups that collaborate and study specific areas within the 16 domains of work. Around 40 new Working Groups are formed every year to look at emerging challenges of the power system. All Working Groups ultimately produce a comprehensive technical publication, referred to as a ‘Technical Brochure’, accessible to everyone.
