Instruments

You can be confident that our instruments will perform, because we use them every day. We know which factors are important in quality instruments, and have thoroughly field-tested every device. Safearth instruments are not products of ‘spec sheet’ engineering — they’re based on real world experience.

We understand the gap between prototype devices and commercial products. Our instruments only become fully-fledged products when they’re absolutely ready and reliable. Safearth has a strong focus on iterative development and prototyping, because rapid prototyping and early field testing leads to better, more robust, products.

We’re not just an instrument shop or another instrument supplier. Building a relationship with you is important to us. We can even develop instruments to meet your own particular needs (earthing related or otherwise).

Integrity Testing

CS3 Site Continuity Meter

The difference between an effective and ineffective earthing connection could be as small as a few mΩ. A 1kA fault through a 10mΩ joint results in 10kW of heat, which could immediately destroy the connection, and result in an extremely hazardous scenario.

If you want to verify the integrity of electrical connections across a large distance, or in a noisy environment such as a live substation, this instrument is for you. It is ideal for routine testing and maintenance, and can identify defects before they fail under fault conditions.

The CS3 is a milli-ohmmeter, but with a number of advanced additional features that have been developed especially for the particular requirements of earthing system integrity testing. It gives you previously unachievable insight into the condition of your assets, and you can test without needing to take assets out of service.

Current Injection Testing

MI1 Tunable Voltmeter

Current Injection Testing (CIT) is used to measure earthing system performance. Our MI1 Tunable Voltmeter is a frequency selective voltmeter that measures off-power-system-frequency test voltages. During a CIT (even on an in-service earthing system) it can be used for Touch/Step voltage measurements, and EPR/Fall of Potential measurement.

Our Remote Phase Signal Source is perfect if you need to perform Current Injection testing and want to be able to make remote phase measurements, without dragging around a reference signal lead.
